How Door Beams Protect Occupants

In a side impact, the door beam acts as a load-distributing bridge between the outer door skin and the door inner structure:

• Intrusion Resistance: The beam resists inward deformation of the door, maintaining space between the occupant and the intruding object.

• Load Distribution: Impact energy is spread along the beam length to the door's front and rear mounting points (A-pillar and B-pillar, or B-pillar and C-pillar).
