Subframe Structure Overview

A typical front subframe consists of left and right rails connected by crossmembers, with mounting points for suspension arms, engine mounts, and steering gear. Hot stamped reinforcements are added in critical areas:

• Rail Reinforcements: Inner reinforcements inside the subframe rails increase bending and torsional strength.

• Crossmember Gussets: Triangular gussets reinforce rail-to-crossmember joints, improving joint stiffness and fatigue resistance.

• Engine Mount Plates: Reinforced plates distribute engine mount loads into the subframe structure.

• Crashhorn Extensions: Some subframes include forward extensions that act as additional crash energy absorption elements.

Material and Process

Our subframe reinforcements are typically made from 22MnB5 boron steel with thickness ranging from 1.5mm to 2.5mm depending on the load requirements. The hot stamping process achieves the required strength while maintaining complex geometry with flanges, holes, and formed features.
